A2 Road Closures - Brenley to Canterbury

A2 BOUGHTON AND DUNKIRK CONCRETE REPAIRS

We’re writing to inform you we’ll be carrying out some concrete repairs to the A2 carriageway between Boughton and Dunkirk. Work will involve full depth treatment including crack repairs and new surfacing.

For the safety of the workforce and the road-users, we’ll be closing the A2 carriageway separately between M2 Junction 7 Brenley Corner and the A28 at Canterbury and A2050 Canterbury over seven weekends, with two extra weekends for contingency.

Eastbound Closure Dates:

⦁ 8pm Friday 3 September 2021 to 6am Monday 6 September 2021

⦁ 6am Saturday 2 October 2021 to 6am Monday 4 October 2021


Westbound Closure Dates:

⦁ 8pm Friday 10 September 2021 to 6am Monday 13 September 2021

⦁ 8pm Friday 17 September 2021 to 6am Monday 20 September 2021

⦁ 8pm Friday 24 September 2021 to 6am Monday 27 September 2021

Diversion for the above dates:


Eastbound to Dover: Leave the M2 at junction 7, diverted traffic will follow A299, A256 to re-join the A2 at Guston.

Westbound to London: Leave the A2 at Guston, diverted traffic will follow the A256, A299 to re-join the A2 at junction 7 of M2.

Please use A28 for local access to Canterbury


Westbound Closure Dates:

⦁ 10pm Friday 8 October 2021 to 6am Monday 11 October 2021

⦁ 10pm Friday 22 October 2021 to 6am Monday 25 October 2021

Please note that for the above two westbound weekend closures the works will start from 10pm on the Friday night and the closure and diversion point will be off the A2 via the slip signed Canterbury A2050, where traffic will follow the A2050 to join the diversion onto the A28.As of 6am Saturday morning the closure and diversion point will be moved to the off slip signed Canterbury/Ashford A28. The off slip for A28 Canterbury/Ashford will be closed from 8pm due to third party works.

Contingency Dates:

Eastbound: 8pm Friday 5 November 2021 to 6am Monday 8 November 2021

Westbound: 8pm Friday 19 November 2021 to 6am Monday 22 November 2021 (TBC)

When the carriageway closures are in place residents and businesses that have direct access to their properties off the closed carriageway will be accommodated by the escort service. There will be no escort through the works to access the open carriageway. Please note there may be a slight wait for the escort vehicle and our operatives will be wearing body cameras and CCTV footage will be in place for the safety of the public and workforce from errant vehicles and anti-social behaviour.

Eastbound Escort Point – Please make your way down Brenley Lane, turn left onto Nine Ash Lane, then right onto Canterbury Road, follow The Street, leading you back onto Canterbury Road to the escort point.

Westbound Escort Point– Please make your way to the closure point on the A2050 adjacent to Roman Road, where you will be escorted to your property/business.

Please note that these works are subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. We’ll advertise the closures on yellow signs placed in advance at the junction/alongside the road.

The emergency services have been advised that there will be no access through the closures via the A2. There will also be an emergency services only diversion into Boughton-under-Blean.
